Forza Windfoil!

Buongiorno tutti ! You join us here in Torbole, at Italy’s magnificent Lake Garda, nestling under the northern Dolomite mountains and looking down towards the flat plains further south. We’re here for the Techno Wind Foil 130 International Championships 2021, the prologue to next week’s Techno293 World Championships at the same venue.

Torbole/Lake Garda is one of Europe’s top water sports venues, thanks to it’s stunning location, but also the expanse of water, plus the winds that blow up and down the lake between the high peaks and the nearby cities of Milan, Verona, etc… We’re here as guests of, and thanks to the hard work of the local organisers, Circolo Surf Torbole, and the IWA (International Windsurfing Association), with added thanks to our key partners, Tahe Outdoors.

Foil sailing is clearly the big new thing, and will be the official Olympic windsurf discipline at the next Games. That’s why Tahe Outdoors is throwing its full support into foil boarding at the level where it really matters, with the future generations of windsurfers who will carry the sport to new levels. That’s why we’re here now, for 10 days of everything that is good in youth windsurfing today.

The weather forecast says good winds for the next 3 days of TWF 130, but dropping off quite a lot early next week for the start of the main event. Today’s good winds allowed the Race Committee to run 6 Foil Sailing races, with the U19s and U17s racing together in one fleet. It was one of the youngsters, U17 rider Hannes Roeger who won the day, ahead of the top U19 rider Max Burskens with the U17 Benedikt Breulmann in 3rd place on the overall leader board.

We’ll be here for the next 10 days to cover all the action from both competitions. You can keep up to date with all of it, news, results, photos, videos, interviews….at https://worlds2021.techno293.org/
Ciao for now !
